Preparing Your Vehicle For Fall Travel

Preparing Your Vehicle For Fall Travel

With the first day of autumn upon us, along with tonight’s harvest moon, we leave summer behind as we hurtle towards another winter. It’s time to start thinking about the steps we need to take to prepare our cars, and ourselves, for the winter ahead of us. Learn to check the INDOT site for real time traffic conditions The Indiana Department of Transportaton (INDOT) has a website that can tell you about current reported accidents and road issues you may face on your journey. Learn to check this before you leave the house-- it can give you a massive heads up about what routes to avoid. What Is The Difference Between An Oil Change & An Oil Service?

What Is The Difference Between An Oil Change & An Oil Service?

When your vehicle needs an oil change, you may find that dealerships and auto repair shops offer either an oil change or an oil change service. You’ll especially see an oil change service offered by dealerships.  But what is the real difference between an oil change and an oil change service? For most auto repair shops and convenient oil-lube establishments, an oil change means the oil gets drained out and changed. Pretty simple. It is often the less expensive of the two options. An oil change service, however, is the changing of the oil; plus a safety inspection that examines the oil filter, cabin filter, a check of brake pads, tires, fluids, etc. The price for an oil change service is usually higher because of the extra care, value, and reports placed into the inspection. If you are in a pinch and you need an oil change in a hurry, you can get away with a quick oil change without issue. However, if you take the time to include the safety inspection of an oil change ser ... read more

Is Your Student’s Vehicle Ready For School?

Whether driving a few miles away to high school or travelling to a strange city to attend a University, a student’s vehicle should be prepared for the school year ahead by working on a checklist of possible issues that need to be addressed in the coming months.   The biggest recommendation is, make sure the spare tire is in place and inflated properly. You would not want your student out after dark with only three working tires. Blowouts will happen, objects will puncture tires. It’s best to teach your student how to change the tire at least once, even if they have AA coverage.   And while you’re at it, why not do a general tire check? Make sure that rotation, balance, and tread wear won’t be an issue your student will encounter alone and unprepared. Show how to check the tire’s inflation, and invest in a portable tire inflator of some kind in case they develop a slow leak.   To keep the car running in good ... read more

Spring Cleaning: Why Should You Bother Replacing Your Car’s Filters

Spring Cleaning: Why Should You Bother Replacing Your Car’s Filters

Spring is just around the corner; it is time to start looking for ways to improve our environment and performance. Filters are important for many reasons; allowing air to move freely through your vehicle can improve fuel economy, extend your engine's life, reduce emissions, and offer faster acceleration.
